Launching her new project RIIKI REID is an exciting new chapter for artist Raquel Abolins-Reid. The multifaceted artist’s knowledge in both music and movement allows her to create catchy and intriguing music influenced by a range of genres – which is brightly highlighted in her new and upcoming releases.

Her first project, RIIKI, released in 2019, quickly hooked fans with her powerhouse vocals and sugary, indie-pop sound. Single High Heights has had over 2 million streams, while other singles One Day, Share Your Luv, Good Times (#1 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart), In the Moment and One Day, have also enjoyed streaming success. She’s had significant radio play, playlist placements, media/blog attention, and industry recognition. Her industry credits include award-winning producer and engineer Simon Gooding (Dua Lipa, Pink, Drax Project), Wells* (Navvy, Thomston, Paige), and Alex Wildwood (The Veronicas, Broods, Earth Tiger).

Her latest project is an electrifying furthering of craft by the young artist, birthed from a time of musical exploration throughout the pandemic. Channeling her love of alternative, 90s-indie-pop-rock (think Radiohead, DIIV), the first single Meet U Again includes her signature vocals, skilful songwriting, musicianship, and production. There are also subtle nods within the project, to her Māori, Samoan, Latvian and Scottish heritage. RIIKI REID is one to watch.
