Addison Rae Embraces Her Pop Star Persona in Lost and Found 'AR' EP

Two years ago, Addison Rae flirted with the idea of becoming a pop star, and now the day has finally arrived with the long-awaited release of her debut EP, AR. There were whispers of a potential full-length album and plenty of leaked songs, which Rae teased with snippets and sneak peeks since she made her musical debut in 2021. The project ultimately became referred to as "the lost album." Now she's found it, or at least five tracks.

AR opens with the previously leaked "I got it bad," which arguably benefitted the most from the reworked mix, introing the body of work with a new, refreshing energy. It's an undeniably catchy track to the point that even her cynics will likely have difficulty finding fault in this flawless pop song. The following track, "2 die 4," sees Rae team up with pop maestro Charli XCX to create a short and charming effort that reveals that, like most people looking for love, she wants "someone who thinks I'm to die for."

The allegedly Lady Gaga penned "Nothing On (But The Radio)" radiates an undeniable 2010s pop era energy, delivering nostalgia and earworm sensibilities en masse. It's a fun electro-dance pop cut with a sonically saccharine chorus that can make even the most stoic of wallflowers want to dance. "it could've been u," a personal favorite, opens with hooky pop-rock guitar riffs and sultry vocal lines that dig into the mistakes of a former lover. Done with their bullshit, Rae declares that she used to feel bad, but not anymore, singing, "'Cause every time we break up, I break down / Now I don't wanna make up, I'll make out/ With somebody new, it could've been you."

Her debut single, the glossy "Obsessed," closes out the EP with a sucker punch of energy. Originally released in 2021, the divisive track is a look back at where she started. Now that AR has been lost and found, the social media star can finally add verified pop star to her ever-growing résumé.
