Ari Abdul is back! The enigmatic pop artist returns with the release of her latest banger, "DFHMPU," and it was well worth the wait. Produced by Thomas LaRosa and Lucas Sim, the new effort is full of biting lyrics propped up by seamless production, breathing life into the next chapter of the artist's career.

The track opens with a collage of underwater warped vocals, beats, and submerged percussion. Once the instrumentation breaks the surface, Abdul shines as her siren-like, sweeping vocals paint a picture of a one-sided relationship and leaving behind whatever and whoever doesn't serve her. She sings, "You and I both know that I never mattered / Only exist for you when it's after hours / I hope you spend your nights alone choking on flowers."

She puts her foot down in the chorus amid intensifying instrumentation and screaming samples. She sets her boundaries, having had enough of her supposed lover only calling when they're "alone and fucked up." Throughout the second half of the song, she continues to express her self-worth, and listeners can't help but root for Abdul as she tells off her former flame and leaves them on the line, "Don't fucking hit my phone up."

"DFHMPU" marks a new era for the artist, with fans waiting in anticipation to see what she accomplishes in the new year. She ended 2023 with the release of her last EP, CCTV, which included the break-out hit "Bury Me," and teamed up with Two Feet for his track "Kill Anyone." The single paired Two Feet's announcement that he had started his label announcement with 477 Records, which aims to discover, sign, and nourish independent recording artists by harnessing the unique authenticity that appeals to audiences longing for connection and creativity under the guidance only a fellow artist can provide. Abdul is set to embark on a co-headlining North American tour with Isabel LaRosa this spring before heading off on a European/UK headlining tour in April.
