Following a season of electrifying festival performances, opening up for Taylor Swift on 'The Eras Tour,' and some unsuspected Love Island clout, indie princess beabadoobee releases her third studio album This Is How Tomorrow Moves, a full-circle symphony about finding yourself as you fall apart.

Dubbing it her most vulnerable work yet, she’s held prisoner by her own self-awareness. Each song journeys through a forbidden part of the psyche, from sabotage to self-love, accompanied by a cascade of taut guitars. The album’s opening track and lead single “Take A Bite” has already earned its accolades, hitting #1 at triple-A radio in the U.S. after being the most-added track for several weeks in a row.

Other standout singles include the celebratory coming-of-age “Beaches” and “Girl Song,” a piano-driven ode to the complexities of girlhood. She actively apologizes to herself for her own fleeting self-hatred, a product of hormones in flux and a mind poisoned by insecurity.

Most of This Is How Tomorrow Moves was written from her own couch, a comfort deeply embedded within the bones of the project. You can tell beabadoobee feels safe enough to completely unravel, dissecting every broken shard to piece herself together anew. Referring to the project as a “love letter to my younger self,” she shares “I love this album. I feel like it’s helped me so much more than anything else has in navigating this new era, this new understanding of where I’m at. I guess it’s about becoming a woman.”

The project was mostly recorded in Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio, an honor not bestowed upon many. Songwriting is her sword, and Rubin plays a critical role in reminding her to trust in her abilities. Her storytelling and ability to encapsulate feeling into prose is exactly why she stands as high as she does in the alt-indie realm.

This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ accompanying tour kicks off September 8, with its tracklist sure to take on new life once experienced in person. beabadoobee is revered as a live performer, connecting with her fans as a room of tens of thousands sees the most hidden parts of themselves in the bravery of her outpouring.
