Biig Piig's "Ponytail" Will Have You Crying in the Club

Get ready to cry on the dance floor because Biig Piig is back with her latest single, "Ponytail." A melancholic, infectious anthem crafted with longtime collaborator Mac Wetha, the track encapsulates the struggle of being trapped in the toxic push-and-pull of a relationship.

A self-described "sad banger," the track explores themes of emotional entanglement masked in perfectly euphoric, dance-ready production. As iridescent synths and pulsating beats collide, the Irish artist coos to the ether, "The sentiment in your eyes / I know there's something lost, blur the lines / What if we don't land this time? / Why does it feel like we're floating / When it's so clear that we're falling?"

"I was thinking about the feeling of [being] tied to someone and wanting to break the cycle, but not being able to, and kind of admitting defeat," the artist explains. "It's a bit of a sad banger. Crying at the club: my favourite thing to do!" Caught in the heat of the moment, she realizes that nothing gives her a reason to live as her lover does, exalting them and their love throughout the cellophane-stained sonics.

The accompanying music video, directed by Freddie Cattaneo, is one of an eleven-part series that corresponds with each track from the upcoming album. Each episode features a storyline written by and starring Biig Piig, focusing on her childhood experiences, with this one following the singer and a friend pregaming and getting ready for a carefree night out.

The new track builds anticipation for her debut album, 11:11, set for release in early 2025. Biig Piig's debut album era began with standout tracks like "4AM" and "Decimal." While the former explored themes of breaking free from negativity, "Decimal" teased a record full of deep introspection, urban narratives, and synchronicity. True to its name, 11:11 symbolizes enlightenment and the chaos that comes before clarity—a reflection of Biig Piig's transformative artistry.
