In her new single “Cut Me Down”, Blu DeTiger invites us back into her universe, enlisting Australian indie princess and pop visionary Mallrat to provide her unique vocal stylings to elevate the track. Self-proclaimed as the start of a new era, Blu DeTiger looks to expand on her previous releases, taking listeners on a sonic roller coaster with dreamlike vocals laid over her signature groovy bass.

With enough danceability to be a hit in ultra-cool clubs but laid-back enough to bring a melodic vibe to any daytime activity, “Cut Me Down” is equal parts ethereal and compelling, with electronic influences and glitchy vocal production adding to the infectious soundscape. Her expertise as a bassist is on full display as she clearly pours her heart into the instrumentation of the track. The opening of the song starts with a punchy rhythm that both follows and expands on the melody, calling it “one of my favorite bass lines ever written” on a social media post teasing the song.

Lyrically, the song exudes a tongue-in-cheek playfulness, responding to criticism by proclaiming “Every time you cut me down / I just laugh it off” in the chorus as the two artists trade verses. This unbothered, breezy energy only adds to the euphoric whimsy of the track.

Blu DeTiger has spent the majority of the year on the road, supporting artists from Sabrina Carpenter to Sofi Tukker. This exposure across genres only serves to brighten the New York-based artist’s rising star, as she continues to release new music and dive into this new era, all the while not sacrificing her quintessential cool-girl energy.

Blu DeTiger and Mallrat may hail from different corners of the globe, but their collaboration on "Cut Me Down" feels undeniably natural and alluring, leaving listeners craving another hit from the two up-and-coming artists.
