Charlotte Lawrence Shares Her Very Being With Us in "Bodybag"

Los Angeles' own singer-songwriter Charlotte Lawrence returns with the new single "Bodybag." The beautiful ballad matches some of Lawrence's most sonically beautiful music to date with raw lyricism that digs deep into an exploration of pain in its most honest form, using the most minor details to cut deep into the heart.

"Bodybag" opens with unassuming piano chords, easing us into the somber scene while still depicting it in an alluring and empathetic light. Lawrence laments the pain of losing someone, being cheated on, and somehow trying to find a way through it all. As the track continues, it revels in love at all costs, driven by passionate vocals. The steady pace of its unraveling matches the caustic wordplay of lines like, "My father thinks you're full of shit," which ultimately rises to an empathetic finale.

"I want to share pain and heartbreak and sex and all the emotions everybody feels," says Charlotte Lawrence, "and hopefully, people can connect to that and relate. I always thought that I shouldn't be vocal about what I wanted to do. I was shy and scared. Finally, I've grown enough as a person that I feel confident to say I want to perform in arenas and share my music with as many people as I can. I wanna do everything."

The music video is an equally poignant visual featuring engaging scenes of the young artist wrestling with her feelings. The video opens with a backdrop of the singer crying softly and reflecting on her relationship while wrapped in a body bag. As the song plays out, she sings to the camera and to herself in various isolated spaces while still wrapped up in opaque plastic. The final shot shows the artist dragged off into the night by her former lover while she sings, "Help me hurt, and then I'll come back / I'll come back, I'll come back to you."
