Dora Jar's "Bump" Is a Hypnotic Manifestation Turned Reality

As an artist, getting noticed is half the battle. However, in today's music landscape, exposure has become more readily available than ever. The constant bombardment of fresh music is the new norm. As a lover and consumer of music, this is nothing short of a fever dream. We are the playlist generation, and we demand hot new tracks every day.

Getting noticed by Billie Eilish is a big deal. Having her bring you on tour... that is next level but such is the story of rising star Dora Jar. Preparing to step out and headline a tour of her own, the New York-based artist is blessing us with her hot new song "Bump". With "Bump," Dora Jar isn't afraid to stand out and be different. It's certainly not the type of jam you might be accustomed to hearing on your local Top 40 radio station, and that's likely for the best.

"Bump" is shrouded in a dreamlike ether that evokes the quiet sobriety of greats like Björk and FKA Twigs. The stripped-down 808 is the perfect backdrop for Dora Jar's silky, ethereal voice. Layers of disparate sonic texture are meticulously added as the song builds to the final chorus. This adds to the beautiful complexity that forms the hypnotic undercurrent of "Bump." Dora Jar has that devil-may-care, ready-for-whatever aura about her, which is wholeheartedly reflected in her music. There is something inherently calming about "Bump," as if experiencing a dream you never want to wake from.

“I wrote ‘Bump’ when I was living in Poland and for the first time in my life I didn’t really know anyone in that city except for the family I was staying with so I wasn’t bumping into people I knew anywhere. This song felt like a prayer to encounter a meaningful coincidence and eventually it began happening, not with people I knew, but I would see images from dreams manifest in real life, and it sparked this feeling that life had been waiting for me to take note of all the little details because they are leading me somewhere. I drank a lot of black tea with family during this time and became obsessed with teapots. I had an image in my brain of a long human with teapot feet,” shares Dora Jar.

Dora Jar has only been releasing music for a little over a year, yet the few tracks she has released so far have fans constantly salivating for more. If she keeps churning out hits like "Bump," then we will proudly "Follow you into the open air" for whatever comes next.
