Emei's "Love Me Not" Is an Energetic, Explosive Pop Stunner

Los Angeles-based alt-pop artist Emei unleashes her intrusive thoughts in her latest single, "Love Me Not." Showcasing her trademark explosive and energetic pop style, the track infuses elements of electro-pop and grunge-inspired instrumentation while she tries to make sense of her relationship.

Opening with simmering guitar riffs and lovelorn vocals, Emei reflects on the milestones she's hit with her partner, including meeting her mom and receiving breakfast in bed. She questions where the relationship is going, musing, "You know that I'm in it, but did you hit your limit? / I wanna be exclusive, I wanna be explicit / Do you mean what you say? /You've been really nice," eventually admitting that she wants to know how he feels and that she loves him so much she vomits.

The incredibly catchy chorus buzzes with anticipation as she belts, "Do you really love me, do you love me not? / Am I the girl of your dreams or am I gonna be blocked?" The love-induced unhingedness grows as she asks more and more questions and begins to think she may be pushing her luck, even though her lover says they shouldn't worry. She shouts out to the ether, "But I'm falling in love / Do you wanna break up?" before delivering one more bombastic chorus.

"Love Me Not" serves as the successor to Emei's recent EP, Scatterbrain, released in October, featuring standout tracks like "Irresponsible," "Cynical," and the titular "Scatterbrain." 2023 was marked by extensive touring, recording, and viral moments. Emei solidified her position as a notable pop figure poised for further artistic evolution. Throughout the year, Emei captivated audiences across the United States during her 'CYNICAL TOUR,' delivering vibrant and captivating live performances of her EP's tracks. Now, she sets her sights on the UK/EU leg of her tour, slated to commence in April of this year, promising audiences overseas an electrifying experience.
