INJI Transforms the Rage and Heartbreak of a Break-Up Into the Pop Bop "HATE YOUR GUTS"

Dance pop princess INJI is back with her newest single, a revenge anthem that turns fantasy into reality by exposing her ex for who they truly are. “HATE YOUR GUTS” is powered by INJI’s signature driving, club beats and cheeky lyrical delivery, with playful energy coursing throughout this aggressively fun banger.

“HATE YOUR GUTS” paints a vivid picture of an awkward run-in with an ex, something we can all relate to. And to make matters even worse it's not just any ex, but someone who broke your heart and doesn't deserve to have that power over you. In the verses, INJI incorporates conversational adlibs to add to the realism of the situation, enhancing the experience for listeners looking to put themselves in her shoes and let out their rage. Laced with engaging production elements and other quirky details, the track is a feast for the ears of listeners who live for an outright pop bop.

The repeating production between vocals mimics someone whose words are being muffled, adding to the overall feeling of biting your tongue but wanting so badly to let your true feelings out. INJI’s cheery pop cadence in the verses echoes the politeness she feels is a must to remain socially acceptable, and in the impactful chorus, she lets her true feelings out by screaming the lyrics. The chorus invites listeners to also let their aggression go, an effective cathartic moment that every good pop anthem needs.

“HATE YOUR GUTS” is INJI’s first single release of the year, following a string of pop smashes contributing to her popularity. On the inspiration behind the track, INJI says, “It's a very real story of how I finally got over my first heartbreak when I chose justice over reputation. Speaking up can be a hard and unfortunately lonesome road, yet it was the most healing thing I’ve ever done.”
