Iris Lune's distinctive take on pop is one unbridled by any fathomable limitations. Helmed by lead singer, songwriter, and bandleader Ella Joy Meir, the Brooklyn-based project breathes life into surreal avant-garde sonic meditations that evoke comparisons to the likes of leftfield auteurs Bjà¶rk and Grimes. It is an exceptional artistic and musical vision that Iris Lune employs in their arresting new track and music video, "Chirp Chirp."

Iris Lune's "Chirp Chirp" is a striking exploration of the fine line between animal and human told through a rich tapestry of acoustic and electronic elements. From bandleader's Meir compelling vocals that float through the air as loosely-tied-together poetry to the dynamic, swelling production, "Chirp Chirp" is a song that snares its hooks in you and never quite lets go. Iris Lune spoke on the underlying meaning behind "Chirp Chirp," sharing,

"'Chirp Chirp' is about someone feeling trapped in their own shell and finding freedom through embracing of unity with their surroundings, in this case, a bird on a lemon tree. They are drawn to the bird and enchanted by its free and easy nature. The bird is able to touch something that is hidden so deep in them, and with 'such a small gesture' it manages to cut through all the armor they've been trying to put on. In the chorus, there's a moment of realization that maybe the person and the bird aren't as different from each other. In that moment, when all walls are down, the person and the bird are one."

Directed by Julia Barrett-Mitchell, the accompanying visual for "Chirp Chirp" serves as not only a perfect pairing for Iris Lune's sonic search for freedom, it arrives as a powerful message of breaking free from capitalistic and patriarchal constraints. Barrett-Mitchell spoke further on her vision for bringing the visual for "Chirp Chirp" to life, sharing,

"Metamorphoses is a very human urge that has permeated our poetry and our imaginations for millennia. Our bodies know we are animal, whereas our minds remind us daily to act like sane, rational, functional humans. I think modern society struggles to bridge the gap between our human and animal nature. I think we all can relate to our animal sides being more reckless and free. I think at some point we all fantasize about breaking out of this capitalistic machine and flying, carefree amongst the clouds."
