Melbourne’s R.em.edy Blends Advocacy and Honesty in Every Track

R.em.edy, aka Emma Coldrey, is an emerging artist with a disability who is paving her own way in the music industry. She champions the importance of staying true to yourself, refusing to compromise your values or your health and wellbeing in order to fit in. As a multi-hyphenate singer, songwriter, and producer, R.em.edy is redefining what it means to be an artist with a disability.

“Advice I would give… trust your gut. Don’t feel like you have to compromise to fit in. I think it’s almost a stereotype with singers, but now that kind of trickles into artists as well, that we’re diva’s. Own it, be a diva. I love being a diva, bitch. It’s so much fun.

R.em.edy’s music evokes a feeling of nostalgia, reminiscent of the R&B, pop, hip-hop, soul fusion that dominated airwaves in the 90’s, early 2000’s, while also aligning with contemporary artists like SZA, RAYE, Renee Rapp, and Doja Cat. The result is a sound that feels both familiar and fresh, timeless yet unique.

Her latest EP ‘high again’, released in 2025, is no exception. With the combination of her layered and dynamic vocals, clever lyricism and irresistible composition, R.em.edy is a stellar example of the R&B talent Australia has to offer. ‘Feels like (uh)’ is an intimate and playful track that could easily blend in with the works of icons like Ashanti and Brandy. Beyond its sonic appeal, her music is driven by infectious delivery and a confident, self-assured voice - qualities that run consistently throughout her discography.

“I think what makes my music me is definitely the sass. And the honesty. I love being very honest in my lyrics and a bit playful”.

Her latest release, a remix of her own song UKWTD with Mog.Y and Gutterboy sounds like a summer night, cruising through city streets on the way to the next destination. Whether you’re heading out or soundtracking a slow evening at home, R.em.edy’s music is transportive, effortlessly shifting to meet the mood of any setting.

With a growing list of festival appearances, including BIGSOUND, the Australian Open, and St Kilda Festival, as well as supporting artists like Illy alongside her own headline shows, R.em.edy is steadily establishing herself as a powerful presence in Australia’s R&B scene. Her live performances reflect not only her vocal ability, but her charisma and connection with audiences - an artist who knows exactly who she is and isn’t afraid to show it.

Beyond her music, she is a passionate advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the industry, using every opportunity to push for meaningful change. Informed by her own lived experience with chronic illness, neurodivergence and mental health challenges, R.em.edy uses her platform to support the voices of peers in the industry with a disability. She shares:

“To be an artist with a disability, makes me have to be very disciplined. Very focused. Very goal oriented and very passionate about what I do and helping others in the industry”

As her career continues to evolve, R.em.edy is not only shaping her own path, but helping reshape the industry into a more inclusive, honest, and empowering space for the next generation of artists. With hints of new music on the way, we can’t wait to see what’s on the cards next for her.
