Powfu Drops Visual For Viral Breakout Hit "death bed"

It is only April, but Powfu may be the breakout artist of the year. The Vancouver, British Columbia teen quietly making music out of his bedroom and uploading it to SoundCloud has seen a veritable explosion in less than two months. Why you ask? Well, a combination of going viral of micro-video sharing platform TikTok and an innate gift for blending elements of lofi hip-hop and anti-pop.

As of the time of writing this, Powfu's "death bed" has over 130 million streams on Spotify alone, launching the song to the sixth spot on Spotify's Global Top 50, only behind the likes of Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, and Tones and I's fellow viral hit "Dance Monkey." Meanwhile, on TikTok, over three million videos have been made utilizing the viral hit. It would be an understatement to say there is a palpable demand for Powfu's melancholic musings, and it is a demand the rapidly rising artist is filling with a highly-anticipated visual.

Today sees Powfu dropping the visual accompaniment to "death bed." The video, which features the Canadian teen delivering a series of melancholic verses over a pitched-up remix of beabadoobee's "Coffee," takes on an even more heart-shattering tone than the song itself.

Intercut images of Powfu sitting alone on a bed in the middle forest and home recordings of blossoming young romance play out as the sentimental track reaches its ultimate conclusion. As beabadoobee's pitch-shifted vocals intermingle with Powfu's musings on a life, and in turn love, that was cut short, it becomes all too easy to see exactly why "death bed" has struck a chord with millions across the globe.
