"OMG," Suki Waterhouse's Latest Single Is Everything and More

Singer-songwriter, model, and actress Suki Waterhouse starts her year on a high with the release of her shimmering new single "OMG." The track, co-written with Natalie Findlay and Jules Apollinaire, is a synthy, sleazy rock anthem.

"OMG" is brimming with '90s-tinged guitars, funky bass lines, and prominent drums, while Waterhouse's dreamy vocals allude to a past lover. She reflects on the sordid romance and the search for the person she was before succumbing to the toxicity of their affair. On the energetic choruses, she croons over the deliciously vengeful production, "Oh my God / Take me back the way that I was / Oh my God / You know I only tried to play your games / So you cannot forget my name / You and I, are not the same / You always had it easy," referring to a past romance.

"We started half the song and then put it to the side. We were like, 'It's not working.' And then two months went by, and we were back in the studio, and suddenly this chorus came out with this energy around it," shares Waterhouse to Rolling Stone. "It's such an anxious state when I'm trying to put together a song because you always feel like you are on the edge of something. It's really about going against the intellect and into the instinct of the song. That's what I find so fascinating about writing. It's really the most tedious, delicate process, so dependent on whether you can get out of your own way that day."

The accompanying music video, directed by Émilie Richard-Froozan, is a vibrant Panavision shot visual that features Waterhouse in Edith Piaf-inspired glam. Guided to a greenhouse by two companions, she gives a sultry, dynamic performance of the track, giving viewers a glimpse of her growing baby bump.

"OMG" will be featured on Waterhouse's upcoming album, which will be out later this year. "I started coming up with a concept that I think is like a metamorphosis," she says. "There's basically something to do with this disco ball spider, and that's all I'll say for now." Although there aren't many details about the project out at the moment, it marks her second record after her 2022 debut, I Can't Let Go. She followed the album with the standalone single and official video for "Nostalgia" and the Milk Teeth EP featuring the Gold-certified single "Good Looking."
