Manga and anime fans rejoice! Alternative music superstar YUNGBLUD has returned with his new song, "Abyss," which will serve as the opening theme for the highly anticipated forthcoming anime series Kaiju No. 8. The song explores the turmoil of the anime's main character, Kafka Hibino, aided with fury filled, relentless instrumentation that never lets the foot off the gas.

Opening with pounding percussion, YUNGBLUD's killer vocals illustrate the struggle within the show's protagonist, crooning the lines, "I've seen Hell rise out of your eyes / Creep up at night to your demise / You've gotta fight, I've gotta fight." Tension builds as the short but impactful song comes to the pre-chorus, with the grooving basslines giving way to dramatic string arrangements and moodier, cinematic production. The captivating chorus features stellar guitar riffs and explosive rhythms, with the artist's soaring vocals bleeding with emotion as he belts, "Could someone save my life?"

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, YUNGBLUDd offered, "I think there are times when we feel that the world is cruel and not necessarily made for us. I think that's expressed very beautifully in the story, and it's really in line with what I'm trying to achieve myself. To find my place in the world, to find my friends. Don't suppress your hidden talents and power, even if you can't be proud of them yourself. Because everyone is beautiful."

"Abyss" follows the success of YUNGBLUD's previous release, "When We Die (Can We Still Get High?)," featuring Lil Yachty. The single sees the duo push the boundaries of what they can create, experimenting with immersive soundscapes and effects that spark and inspire the imagination. Both artists are set to perform at YUNGBLUD's inaugural Bludfest in England this August alongside performers like The Damned, Soft Play, Nessa Barrett, Lola Young and Jazmin Bean.
