Alexander 23 has released his third single, "Mars," and it has us falling deeper in love with the up-and-coming musician's sound while also reminding us about our failed past relationships (worth it?!).

The self-produced slowed-down pop track is about not being good enough for someone in a relationship, despite strong efforts to try and convince them otherwise. The song is simple in sound with a subtle beat lifting the chorus, lulled electronic sounds throughout the track, and glowing vocals from Alexander 23 that smooth and glue the whole electro-pop track together. He taps into his frustrations and failed efforts in the track through the lyrics, and the straight-forward flow is easy to catch on and sing along to.

"I tried to give you the world but you wanted Mars too / No one that I could've been was good enough for you..."

The Chicago-raised singer-songwriter has released three singles this year, which makes up the extent of his released discography. Although the singer might not have a lot of music out yet, he's made himself known while touring across the US with other artists. He recently hit the stage with Australian pop rock band 5 Seconds of Summer, and even more recently finished opening for singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin's sold-out North American tour. Fans who have seen him perform unreleased songs have been eagerly awaiting the new music to hit streaming services, and "Mars" was no exception.

Want to hear Alexander 23 perform this track live? You can catch the singer in his hometown at Lollapalooza this summer on Aug. 1. While you wait, you can watch the official crayola-esque space-y lyric video for the latest track below.
