CHAMPS'  "Katrina" Video Is Superbly Surreal [Premiere]

Over the past three years, the CHAMPS brothers spent time writing, recording and immersing themselves in the London music scene. It was in the East End where they ran into producer Dave Granshaw and felt an immediate creative chemistry, which led to the creation of their newest album, The Hard Interchange.

“Katrina,” a standout single from their latest album, feels like the apex of their collaboration - a wonderfully wrought, colorfully illustrated, synth-drenched pop track that features the brothers most cryptic and wildly imaginative songwriting alongside Oakley’s dialed-in vintage production. “Oh Katrina / She was a baseball player / A Texas Ranger and a warrior,” is just one of the many sidesplitting lines they sing without the slightest hint of self-consciousness and the video’s disjointed, campy flavor adds a whole other dynamic to the wily lyrics.

CHAMPS spoke further on the surreal lyrics and underlying meaning behind "Katrina," sharing,

"'Katrina' is a song about not letting anything stand in your way. If you wanna be a baseball player, a Texas Ranger, a warrior or you just wanna play electric violin for the girls in Philadelphia then go for it. It’s about being and feeling empowered.“

And today we elated to premiere the mesmerizing  "Katrina" video in all its glory. Beautifully shot and brimming with unexpected cuts to never-explained scenes, it is an A24 Films - worthy accompaniment to the duo's empowering standout single.
