George Eve's  "I Don't Mind" Is Raw, Simple Bliss [Premiere]

Need some stress relief? Listen to "I Don't Mind" by George Eve. It's an easygoing and impeccable vibe from start to finish. It's your hand sailing along with the wind while cruising down the highway. Suffice it to say, it is a sonic embodiment of a good time.

If you're unfamiliar with George Eve, he's a London-based artist who released has worked alongside Ben Baptie, a collaborator for Rex Orange County and London Grammar, and Benji Miller, who has worked with Aries and Anna of the North. George's early releases gained him attention at Radio 1 and BBC Introducing, and his previous single, "Gates," released on March 18 of this year, was placed on Apple Music's New in Pop and New in Alternative playlists.

George Eve reflects on the organic way in which "I Don't Mind" originally came about. It started as a quick demo that he recorded outside, which explains the birds you can hear at the beginning of the track. George iterates, "It was a simple acoustic song with an 'everything's gonna be alright sentiment' holding two fingers up to anxiety and procrastination."

George loved how real and raw it sounded, so for the next few months he tried to recreate it to a click track but found it impossible. He decided to leave much of the original vibe untouched, adding drums that he recorded with one mic in his attic, and thus giving life to "I Don't Mind." Taking care not to overcomplicate or overproduce the musical simplicity of the track, the result is a track that feels heavenly in its effortless grace.

What's next for George Eve? Well for starters, his debut EP is set to release on May 27. Produced by himself and Sam Duckworth, a collaborator for Lily Allen and Shy FX, the EP draws influence from the likes of Gorillaz, The Black Keys, Avicii, and Post Malone. Sounds like a pretty solid recipe to me.
