Hongza Delivers a Coming of Age Soundtrack For 'Gen Z'

Make today a good day by listening to Hongza’s debut EP and “coming of age soundtrack” Gen Z, a dream pop narrative of generational woes all tightly woven together by an earnest confessional energy and a near punk rock vocal delivery.

In short, very apropos for the struggles of this namesake generation; Hongza (née Sam Hong) informed by his British Vietnamese heritage, deftly gropes with the emotional entanglements of online toxicity ("Accolades"), the binge purge nature of modern dating ("Dream Sleep Eat"), the self-healing needed to fall in love again post bad breakup ("Cure Me") and finding comfort and confidence in your identity ("Identity Crises").

Written over the course of the pandemic at Iguana Studios in Brixton, with engineer Adam Connor and friend/producer James Filippides, the records have the celebratory catharsis of a bedroom effort with all the precision of a polished recording. In short, play it loud, make today a good day, and support one of Gen Z’s bright new talents.
