Kailee Morgue Has No Issue Being a "Loser"

Rising alt-pop star Kailee Morgue embraces being a “loser” in her latest single, the aptly-titled “Loser.” The track follows the success of her previous releases, “Butterflies” and “Another Day In Paradise,” earning over 150 million streams across platforms with no signs of slowing down.

“Loser” is a short yet highly energetic, guitar-driven anthem that follows the singer coming to terms with being considered a “freeloader,” “a poser,” and “a serial abuser of everybody’s love.” The track juxtaposes elements of angsty rock instrumentals with Morgue’s sweet and heartfelt vocal and lyrical style, making it a multi-faceted piece of music that leaves listeners hitting the replay button again and again.

“‘Loser’ was inspired by my dad calling all my boyfriends in high-school losers and lowlifes.” Morgue shares about the single. “It used to feel like the worst insult coming from him, and I was so scared of doing nothing with my life or failing at music. I wrote this song as kind of a well f*ck it, I’m a loser then.”

The music video, directed by Ricky Himself, is an equally engaging work that follows Morgue throughout her day. It opens with the singer dealing with car trouble and climbing into the backseat as she begins to sing to the camera, “We are so the same / It hurts to be different.” The visual cuts back and forth from Morgue driving to an unknown destination while singing the song at the top of her lungs and solo shot vignettes. When she finally makes it to her final destination, an empty venue stage, she bursts into the impassioned chorus, performing for no one.
