The last month has put our patience to the ultimate test when it comes to Manila Killa's long-awaited debut EP, 1993. Chris Gavino, the electronic mastermind behind Manila Killa, has stepped forward with what is set to be not only a compelling and jubilant representation of his artistry but also a powerful debut as a solo artist.

Manila Killa's solo journey follows his recent parting from the well-known electronic duo Hotel Garuda, a side project with Aseem Manaokar which helped garner a strong fan base for the artist. The electronic auteur teased his EP with two singles in 2018, "Run Away," a hypnotic track that brought us Manila Killa's vocal debut and a highly addictive hook, as well as "Wake Up Call," an infectious collaboration with  Mansionair, a catchy ambient-driven track supported by haunting lyrics. This was followed by our last peek at his upcoming solo debut with his single, "All 2 U," a futuristic-sounding pairing with Sara Skinner.

The anticipated debut brings us more of what we have come to crave from Manila Killa. With four never before heard tracks, the record shows not only his undeniable versatility but takes us on a journey unlike any other through a melodic landscape. Among the seven songs, two stand out, "Skin," a dreamy ambient collaboration with outsideOutside and "Atypical," featuring GiGi's velvet-vocals and a melody bound to be stuck in your head for days: "Every time I put the past behind, somebody comes to press rewind."

The EP transcends boundaries and puts Manila Killa on a trajectory set for explosive success. Speaking on the EP, Gavino shared,

"'1993' represents every influence I've experienced in my life and how I've applied it to the expression of music. It's my first complete body of work and represents what I truly hear in the power of music and emotion. I hope this is something people will be able to listen to for years to come."

With the release of his EP also comes Manila Killa's first headlining tour  set to bring his brilliant sounds to a multitude of cities. Be sure to check him out and do yourself a favor by listening to the EP below:
