PinkPantheress' "Passion" Is so Good It Went Viral Before It Released

Though PinkPantheress' "Passion" was just released, it's pretty likely you've heard it before. She's been dominating TikTok for the better part of 2021, and  with the release of her latest single that many (myself included) have been eagerly anticipating, she makes good on a month of teases and snippets.

It may surprise you to read that PinkPantheress has only been making music for a few years, despite the young artist-turned-TikTok-star already amassing an incredible amount of attention for her retro-themed mixes. Taking inspiration from genres like dance, DnB, nu-jungle, and pop, her music pairs a nostalgic and lo-fi register with something inexplicable, forward-thinking, and present only in an "always online" generation. In the past year alone, she's amassed tens of millions of Spotify streams, created multiple viral tracks, and even appeared on a Goldlink record - and she shows no sign of slowing down.

PinkPantheress is known for delivering cute and tender tracks that resemble infectious lo-fi demos more than actual songs, but "Passion" sees the young artist delivering what may be her most polished release yet. Returning with her signature dulcet tones and soft vocal melodies, PinkPantheress blissfully thrives in the fine-tuned and carefully crafted stylistic intersection that she's likely been honing for the past year. The song is just as well-written as it is catchy, with her lyrics detailing disillusionment and alienation coming across equally relatable and understated.

With music that makes you feel like you've been transported  into a twinkling '90s video game, PinkPantheress has certainly locked down a style of her own, ond we couldn't be more thrilled to watch her grow in the years to come.
