If you did not write your mom a precious song for the holiday that celebrates her very existence, then the R&B songstress Raveena is, without a doubt, one step ahead of you. The New York-based singer-songwriter strives to empower minority women through impactful lyricism that embodies self-love and self-reflection. With her ability to channel natural meditation into her atmospheric soundscape, Raveena is celebrating this Mother's Day by dedicating a special ballad to her personal inspiration: "Mama."

Paying homage to the arduous journey Raveena's mother and grandmother had to endure in their trek to the states in the 80s, "Mama" honors the Indian-American's beloved heritage while acknowledging the good fortune her ancestors blessed her with. Just as we expected, Raveena's charming personality remains the focus of her serene songs, and "Mama" is definitely drenched with her captivating vocals that are joined by light percussion and comforting violins.

Directed by Danica Kleinknecht, the "Mama" music video showcases real immigrant families in New York City as they cherish one another. With clips of Raveena's own loving family, the heartening visual includes footage from her mother's wedding day years ago alongside present-day shots of the same Queens church. What was most essential to Raveena for this project is that all of the women featured in the video are first or second generation immigrants, which stresses the importance of minority voices today.

On "Mama," Raveena shared,

"This is one of my favorite songs and I've been wanting to share it with you for a long time. Immigrant mothers are so strong, and I felt like I needed to write a song about my own strong and creative immigrant mama. Love you, Mom."
