Amira Elfeky and Scarlet House's "Remains of Us" Is a Haunting Sonic Maelstorm

Although she may be on the road supporting The Used and Story Of The Year, nu-gaze rising star Amira Elfeky is showing no signs of slowing down with her latest single and first-ever collab, "Remains of Us." Teaming up with Fred Durst-endorsed, one-man band Scarlet House, she delivers a hazy and haunting effort about an all-consuming love that pulls inspiration from artists like Deftones and Evanescence while still staying true to her unique artistry.

The track opens with deep, foreboding guitar strums and ghostly vocables swirling in the background of the production. Crushing percussion patterns burst into the mix alongside a rumbling and rich bassline, ushering in Elfeky's dreary yet divine vocals and creating an equally unsettling and intoxicating melody. She lulls over the brewing sonic concoction, "Another thought of you and me / And everything that we'll never be / And I pray / Your eyes stay fixed on me / I am lost in your reverie."

On the hook, the instrumentation explodes with feverish rhythms as she and Scarlet House come together in perfect harmony. They declare their undying love and promise to "sail away" to the ends of the earth for each other. As Elfeky belts, "Baby, nowhere's too far for love / We'll be okay," Scarlet House vows with their sultry vocals, "When it's all up in flames / I'll hold on to remains of us."

“‘Remains of Us’ is a haunting reflection on love and loss," shares Elfeky. "The verses delve into a narrative of dreams and desires, resonating with the feeling of devotion amidst inevitable change.”

The new release follows the success of Elfeky's debut EP, Skin to Skin, which showcased volatile tracks like "Everything I Do Is For You," "A Dozen Roses," and her viral major label debut single, "Coming Down." Her tour in celebration of the stellar record continues throughout the summer, hitting major cities like Portland, Montreal, and Pittsburg before closing in Norfolk, Virginia, on July 13 at The NorVa.
