Between You & Me Start New Era On A High With Single "Nevermind" | THE NOISE

Australian alternative outfit Between You & Me are starting their next chapter with a bang on their first independent single, "Nevermind." After parting ways with their former record label, the track marks the beginning of a new era for the band, perfectly capturing their intoxicating live energy with vibrant instrumentation and relatable and optimistic lyricism.

The single is a self-proclaimed "sarcastic party rock" anthem that opens with summery guitar riffs, pop-infused percussion, and steady bass lines. Lead singer Jake Wilson shares, "I don't care about the mansions, glitz, and the glam," singing that all of that stuff is overrated and that people are too focused on the superficial. On the climactic choruses, the band launches listeners into a carefree soundscape full of passionate instrumentation, including crashing drums, thrumming bass, and mosh-worthy guitar riffs, laced with lyrics that dream of searching for more out of their lives, hoping to one day " hear my songs on MTV."

"We knew that the next song we released after Armageddon was going to be tough because we put all that we had into the album and are very proud of what we were able to create together," lead singer Jake Wilson said to Kerrang. "Since our band is now independent, there felt like a lot of added pressure to prove a lot of people wrong and remind everyone that we're still here and we aren't dropping off anytime soon. As we're growing in our career and as individuals, we've enjoyed playing with different genres and finding our niche. 'Nevermind' is the next chapter for BYAM that perfectly captures the spirit of our band and our live show."

The band has also kicked off their new era with the release of a music video. It's a dynamic visual cut with footage from the band's recent tour in the USA while supporting pop-punk heavyweight State Champs, giving a taste of what's to come from their US tour next month with Real Friends and Knuckle Puck.

Between You & Me have conquered stages across Australia, the USA, Europe, and the UK with their explosive live shows and infectious energy, touring with The Maine, Neck Deep, Waterparks, Knuckle Puck, and Tonight Alive. Their 2021 record, Armageddon, landed as triple j's Spotlight Album and has since clocked up over 10.5 million global streams in addition to support from BBC Radio 1 and Spotify. In celebration of the release, Between You & Me stepped out on their biggest Australian headline tour, ending the stint in their hometown of Melbourne with a sold-out show at The Corner Hotel. Then, as 2022 drew to a close, the band took to the USA, joining American pop punk outfit State Champs on an extensive month-long run.
