Last month, Vancouver rapper Boslen returned with "TRIP," his first single of 2021. "TRIP" comes from Boslen's forthcoming debut LP DUSK to DAWN, but until its release thankfully the young creative has been hard at work making bangers for his fans. On his newest release, Boslen makes a strong first impression in 2021 with his hard-hitting rapping style and off-kilter production.

With the delivery of Vic Mensa, the swagger of PARTYNEXTDOOR, and the energy of Travis Scott, Boslen makes a true name for himself on his newest single "TRIP." The track sports a mix blending together elements of pop, R&B and hip-hop over a dynamic and high-octane instrumental. The first half of the song is a psychedelic and intoxicating ride through Boslen's creative world, with the 22-year-old rapper reflecting on both his future and past. Embodying the highs and lows of being a famous rapper, it would only seem fitting that an unexpected beat change happens halfway through the track. Ushered in with lurching bass signals, the foundation of "TRIP" quickly changes from spacious and ambient pads paired with punchy hi-hats, to a hypnotic and frantic mix where Boslen effortlessly shows off his dynamic and versatile delivery. Whether singing melodically or animatedly spitting bars, Boslen's writing and flow stays consistently clever while constantly changing.

Boslen's "TRIP" makes an incredibly strong case for him as an upcoming rap talent, and if DUSK to DAWN is anything like his singles - then we're certainly in for a treat. "TRIP" is the perfect track for both your workout and midnight drive playlists, so it may be wise to familiarize yourself with Boslen's work while he's still relatively low-key. It's only a matter of time before he blows up, but until then he's certainly one to watch.
