Brenn! Unleashes His Folk-Pop Sincerity in "Days on End"

Brenn! continues to make his mark in the folk-pop sphere with his new single “Days on End.” The single details losing a friend to the mountains, and the devastating effect it has had on the singer.

The song opens with a stripped back strumming guitar accompanied by Brenn!’s vulnerable vocals. When the first chorus starts it’s almost as though a dam has been opened. The passion and pain in Brenn!’s voice is palpable with the singer almost begging his friend for an explanation for why they left. He asks “Do the mountains call your name / Louder than I did?” Brenn! doesn’t let his friend off easy, telling them “Oh I screamed and I lost my voice for / days on end.” The rasp in Brenn!’s voice throughout the chorus almost makes it feel as though he recorded this just after getting his voice back, as though he couldn’t wait any longer to get his thoughts and feelings out into the world.

While the first verse focuses on the changes the friend has gone through, the second verse dives into Brenn!’s own changes and how the loss of his friend has impacted him. The classic folk-pop guitar instrumental continues but never overpowers the vocals, allowing Brenn!’s storytelling to shine. Brenn! shares that he's not doing well admitting “I’ve been yelling at the traffic / Just to feel seen by something.” The singer’s confusion at his friend’s actions makes an appearance in the bridge with Brenn! saying “No one’s gonna make you stay / But no one else is telling you to leave.”

Brenn!’s ability to express his innermost feelings so clearly is a feat many people his senior haven’t yet achieved. At only 20 years old, one can only imagine what the future has in store for this rising folk-pop star.
