Celebrate the Season of Love with Bestfriend's "HEADSTART"

Bestfriend is celebrating the season of love. The Canadian duo’s latest release, “HEADSTART” is a catchy confession of lovestruck feelings, appropriately released on Valentine’s Day. Upbeat and full of life, “HEADSTART” is just the anthem needed for new love and dancing around your bedroom after a perfect date.

“HEADSTART” features a steady drum beat and Bestfriend’s signature synths. The chorus explodes into a high energy symphony of even more drums and synths, alongside lead singer Stacy Kim’s passionate vocals. The lyrics are also an explosion, in this case an explosion of emotions with Kim singing “I can’t get you off my fuckin’ mind / I think about you all the time / It’s all just waiting there for us / Let’s take the leap, let’s take the plunge.” While the lyrics of the song are open, honest, and straightforward, the band acknowledges that confessing your feelings is often easier said than done. “‘HEADSTART’ is definitely almost more of a pitch of what we’d hope we’d do in a situation like this when in reality such vulnerability is like, the hardest thing in the entire world to do,” the band confessed.

The single’s accompanying music video features Bestfriend running around a carnival. The duo is seen playing arcade games, riding roller coasters, flying through the air on a swing ride, and trying classic carnival food including hot dogs and curly fries. It’s bright and fun, and captures the upbeat feeling of “HEADSTART" perfectly.

The release of the single comes alongside the announcement of their new EP BESTFRIEND HAS AN IDENTITY CRISIS, due for release on May 9th. “HEADSTART” will be featured on the EP, alongside previous singles “WHY DO WE DO THIS” and “YOU LOOK JUST LIKE ME," as well as three new songs.
