Alt-pop trailblazer Charlotte Sands returns with her newest album, Satellite, an electric and emotionally charged record that sees the LA-based artist at her most expansive, fearless and self-assured. Stylistically known for a genre-blurring sound, anchored with fearless vulnerability, biting lyricism and high-impact production, Satellite is an intimate journey of self-discovery, delivered in an anthemic, gutsy and truly memorable listen.
“Satellite was born from a search for meaning, identity, and self-worth,” Charlotte shares. “It’s a collection of moments from the last two years of my life—the highs and the lows, the joy and the grief. It’s about drifting, discovering, questioning your purpose, and learning to trust the quiet pull that brings you back to yourself.”
The eponymous track is our entry into the album’s sonic landscape, fluidly blending gritty production with Sands’ svelte vocals into a powerful opening, “Wait, don’t go away I’m here to stay // Always awake, I’ll always stay.” that brashly throws us into a magnetic chorus that feels like a windfall. “But I’m scared of heights//But I won’t come down//I’m lost in your orbit, but I don’t want out// I’m yours in the day and the dead of night. I wanna be your satellite.” Setting up the tone of the album, Satellite is a vulnerable surrender. Instead of losing yourself in someone’s orbit, you’re finding yourself there.
Another standout track of the album is “HUSH”, which flips the narrative on indecisiveness with a dancefloor defiance. Opening with “You have a way of ruining the night with just a single conversation.” Sands sets the scene of painful relatability, but instead of choosing to spiral into the drama, Sands chooses the beat. The production is a seamless fusion of alternative rock and high-energy, club-ready tempo that demands movement. By the time we’re at the chorus, you’re chanting along. “Hush hush//Don’t make a sound//I like it better when you // just just swallow it down.” The track showcases the infectious production and razor-sharp lyricism that sets the LA-artist apart from her peers.
While we’ve had favorites “one eye open.” and “afterlife” on our radar for a minute, Satellite is where the project’s vision fully comes into play. It is an exciting journey of self-actualization, navigating the beautiful messiness of identity, purpose and self-worth in every relationship, and ultimately, the one you have with yourself.
Joining Simple Plan as support on their 2026 European tour, this year marks a major turning point in her global rise. An artist who is truly herself in every detail of her identity - from merch design and creative directing - to her own makeup, Charlotte Sands has found her frequency. As she continues to redefine what it means to be an alt-pop icon, we’re more than happy to stay in her orbit.
