Fearless Records signees chokecherry continue to stun listeners with yet another new breathtaking track, this time in the form of the dreamy and refreshing "Secrets." The single release comes alongside the announcement of their headlining tour this winter and serves as an ode to leaving what you know behind and embracing change.
The track opens with lush layers of crashing percussion and throbbing bass lines and guitar, bathing the production in a gorgeous gloominess. As the angular guitar tension slowly builds from the opening verses and choruses, the track escalates and erupts in a thrilling sonic explosion and coda. The carefully crafted lyrics evoke a push and pull feeling, oscillating between wanting to break free, but also function as a love letter to the band’s time in a city that is so professionally and personally integral to its members in unique ways. On the outro, train audio clips litter the production, showing as a sign that although they may have left home, a part of it will always be with them.
Singer and guitarist Izzie Clark shared with The Noise about the track, "The song is also about letting go of old patterns that no longer serve you, and having the trust in yourself to take the leap towards the unfamiliar."
The accompanying music video, directed by Jack Boston, follows the pair as they traverse the city. Footage of them running toward destinations unknown intercut with scenes of them singing from the top of hills, looking down at the city lights below. The visual matches the moody yet invigorating energy of the single, leaving you with this feeling of rooting for the pair as they race off towards their destiny.
Chokecherry recently concluded a successful summer tour with Wavves, captivating fans at every stop. The excitement continues as they announce a highly anticipated Fall 2025 headlining North American tour, with the special guests The Sewing Club. The tour kicks off on November 14 in San Francisco and promises to be a thrilling ride, culminating on December 21 in Salt Lake City.
