corook Creates a Safe Space and Pop Gem in "THEY!"

Trailblazing musician and viral sensation corook is back and unapologetically themselves with the release of their defiant queer anthem, "THEY!." Already a fan favorite after the artist posted a teaser on Tiktok, this single is the last song to be released ahead of the pop artist's highly anticipated debut album, committed to a bit, arriving February 28.

The single opens with corook delivering a sweet and friendly PSA, reminding, "Anyone dressed in androgynous outfits... That you are safe here, show off your binder." Over whimsical production, including pop-infused percussion, hooky, surfy guitar riffs, and rich bass lines, they reflect on the state of the world and people trying to dissect their gender. Corook calmly explains, "Not rocket surgery, it's very simple/ I'm just a little more me in the middle." On the hook, the Pittsburgh native shares the immense acceptance and pride in who they are, conveying that they feel "more me now" and will understand if people make mistakes.

"'THEY!' is my favorite track from the committed to a bit album," says corook. "I wrote it to capture the mix of nerves and joy that comes with sharing your new pronouns with the world. In a time when our identities are under constant attack, especially with figures like Trump attempting to legislate us out of existence, this song feels more vital than ever."

After sharing the snippet of "THEY!" in response to the Trump administration's harmful policies and agenda towards the LGBTQ+ community, the song quickly resonated with viewers for its powerful message of acceptance and inclusivity. Its impact was so significant that it not only garnered the attention of the Human Rights Campaign and celebrities, including Jonathan Van Ness, Meaghan Trainor, and Justin Bieber, but also empowered the LGBTQ+ community.

The upcoming album will also include singles "crumbs," "ballerina, "and "blankets," all available now alongside corook's committed to a bit video series. To celebrate their debut album, the LA-based singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist will embark on their largest headline tour next month, stopping at Music Hall of Williamsburg on March 5 and The Roxy on March 22.
