Officially catalyzing spooky season, DPR IAN’s Dear Insanity… EP cuts no corners on quality, storytelling, nor the intricate art of building a universe.

Hitting over tens of millions of streams and views, Korean-Australian DPR IAN gets an exact return on investment. It’s impossible not to recognize the intention poured into every detail of this project’s rollout, from the cinematic videos to the theatrical lyricism, all lending to an immersive, multi-sensory experience. Written, directed, and produced by the musician himself, this audio and visual masterpiece is thoroughly and completely his.

Though it’s the second track, “Welcome To The Other Side” is what truly initiates the 7-track EP, showcasing the dexterity of his vocals and lyrical ability with sinister undertones. Accompanied by previously released hits “So I Danced” and “Peanut Butter & Tears,” we’re taken along a compelling indie pop journey through every dark crevice of emotion, from heartbreak to complacency.

DPR IAN plays the role of the villain trapped inside his own sensitivities in the “Don’t Go Insane” visual, surviving the eye of a storm with electric choreography and impressive storyboarding. The costume design meeting larger than life visual effects season the palette of the artist’s signature production. Holding ground of one of the most devoted fan bases, DPR IAN’s community can’t help but be mesmerized by the grandiosity of him. He’s effortlessly awe-striking yet grounded enough to be at eye level with his supporters, who really ingest his art like medicine.

Though being a member of the K-pop group C-Clown served what I was meant to, the superstardom awaiting within DPR IAN would have dimmed into oblivion had he not honored the call to go solo. Ominous, honest, and flawlessly executed, DPR IAN takes madness and alchemizes it into art in the Dear Insanity… EP.
