Emei Pens a Hit for the ADHD Baddies With "Scatterbrain"

Rising alt-pop artist Emei continues to shine on her latest bright banger, "Scatterbrain." The invigorating single highlights her smooth vocals, charm, and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, and according to the indie artist, is for all who deeply relate to the chaos of a messy mind.

"Scatterbrain" is full of glittering backdrops, radiant vocals melodies, and side-chained vocal-stacked harmonies, immediately giving you the quintessential "brain-tingle." The disorderly instrumentation parallels a brain in disarray, reflecting the chaotic brain of someone with ADHD and how to help calm it down. The piece also doubles as a love story with lyrics like, "I'm so scatterbrained / But when you touch me it all goes away," showing that Emei seeks comfort from others to feel calm within the storm.

Emei shared on social media, "I wrote a love song for ADHD baddies. So proud of this one it sounds exactly like my brain. It's everything I can't even express how excited I am."

"Scatterbrain" follows her standalone single "Backtrack," shared last year, and her highly acclaimed debut EP End of An Era. The LA-based singer-songwriter has gone viral on TikTok, with her dripping vocals, colorful lyrics, and slicing wit, rapidly building up a fan base over the past year and gaining more than 180,000 followers on the video-sharing platform, showing just how much her message clicks with fans. The singer began her musical journey performing on Chinese Idol, where she perfected her stage presence and became a household name overseas. Now bringing her talent to audiences worldwide, Emei is cementing herself a dynamic artist to watch.
