Always a boundary-pushing artist, glaive sets himself up for an explosive debut album with his latest single, “im nothing thats all i am.” The song races off to a bold start, contrasting a high-tempo, upbeat guitar rhythm that evokes the familiar nostalgia of indie pop with his signature raw and raspy vocals. This track daringly displays glaive's unique ability to blend introspective lyrics with captivating production, leaving listeners in anticipation of what this next era holds.

“im nothing thats all i am” propels on, centering on his self-doubt and spiraling thoughts. “Goddamn it, this happens every time,” he laments. This sentiment is repeated multiple times throughout the track, feeling more and more introspective with each iteration. However, glaive doesn’t shy away from peeling back his layers, as the verses ditch the distorted vocals prevalent typical of hyperpop to expose a more delicate and confessional side of the artist. As he reflects on people walking out of his life, his lyrics also touch on the universal struggles of identity and purpose.

The production is deceptively simple, as the chorus features just the infectious guitar motif and drums, but his vocals are as layered and complex as ever. The production choices, from this intricate layering to the carefully placed pauses, highlight glaive's attention to detail and his ability to create a rich sonic experience. “im nothing thats all i am” follows his deeply personal and dark melodic tune “as if” released last month, which is also set to appear on his highly anticipated debut album, i care so much that i don’t care at all, set to release July 14.

i care so much that i don't care at all is my debut album,” shares glaive. “I recorded this album in a windowless garage in Los Angeles (a city I don’t particularly like) while simultaneously trying to decide who and what I wanted to be, and how I wanted to present that to other people. It's a collection of feelings and thoughts that I had over the last three years. It sounds super cringe to say, but I suppose it is my life’s work, or at least it has been what I’ve spent my life working on, so far.”

If these past singles are anything to go by, we can expect an album full of reflection and growth from the young musician. It is clear that glaive remains an artist who stays true to his emotions and is unafraid to share his self-doubt and existential perspectives with his listeners.
