hey, nothing Are Stuck In Purgatory In Raw Single “Waiting Room”

Everyone’s favorite emo-folk duo, hey, nothing, is back with their latest single “Waiting Room.” Like their previous work, “Waiting Room” is full of rich imagery and haunting lyrics that leave listeners wanting to play the song over and over again.

In the new single, hey, nothing dives into the anxieties and fears that come with the stark white walls of a waiting room. In the first verse the duo sings “Six hour waiting room / Am I in Hell or just with you? / I don’t know / What have I turned into? / A person who is losing you? / I hope / I don’t.” The chorus mentions a bloody mouth, evoking the image of constant, anxious gnawing at the inside of one’s cheek to the point of drawing blood, while waiting for any sort of news.

“Waiting Room” is raw and intimate with simple acoustic guitar instrumentation and Mabry and Phillip’s voices weaving together in constant harmony. The stripped back production of the song leaves the singers’ pain and distress completely out in the open with nothing to hide behind.

2025 has already been a busy year for the Atlanta based duo. Their latest EP, 33°, was released in February and the duo are currently on the road on The 33° Tour. Later this year they will play Shaky Knees, a festival they grew up attending, and Kilby Block Party. We can’t wait to see what else this year brings for these rising emo-folk stars.
