keshi Aims to Get People Moving With "Say," Announces Sophomore Album 'Requiem'


After two years of quiet, keshi is making his highly anticipated comeback. On the heels of announcing his sophomore project REQUIEM, due September 13, we finally get to feast on lead single “Say,” a lightweight love ballad that elicits a full-body groove.

The alt-R&B Vietnamese prince is doing his part to bring yearning back to the genre, as “Say” pleads for his catch to make a move. Though he’s taken a long while to return to music, he’s seemingly picking up right where he left off, only this time, he’s letting himself take it less seriously. “In all my attempts to make meaningful music, I overlooked songs that were built to just get people to move,” he reflects. “I remember touring on the road and really craving to play songs that just felt good to groove to. ‘Say’ is my answer to that. It’s got a moody sort of cadence with an admiration for city-pop baked into it.”

Produced alongside Elie Rizk, Malay, and Imad Royal, this single is effortlessly funky, with an intoxicating hook that reminds you why the Houston native has already built the legacy he has. The song’s accompanying video features keshi and his elusive lover sauntering through an abandoned Seoul, as romance intertwines with desolation.

While the radio silence was deafening, fans were happy to hold out until keshi was ready to make his return. With the reaction to “Say” being an outpouring of warm welcoming, they’re surely not disappointed. With an album on the way and a worldwide arena tour to accompany it, this could be keshi’s most extravagant era yet, and it’s only getting started.
