King Mala Drops an Anthem for the Introverts With "Homebody"

Los Angeles based KiNG MALA (a.k.a Areli Castro) gives us "Homebody" - voicing a gentle reminder of the power in living authentically and not shying away from who you truly are. With visual storytelling lyrics, fat, pulsing bass, warm piano and a tasteful array of subtle ambient sounds - the song is a joy of elements that hone in the complexity of what it is to be human and experience a multitude of thoughts and feelings .

The track summons a sense of community, uniting all the homebodies. Her expressive vocals leave you almost able to picture her facial expressions as she sings. Along with the fun, encouraging aspects of the song - there are pockets of vocal intimacy throughout the song, allowing you to relax in the company of the nudge: It’s okay to not be okay and it’s okay not to feel yourself.

"I hope it helps people feel okay with what they feel" Areli opens up. It’s safe to say this gem of a single is a bright, beacon of light for all the homebodies, and who doesn’t want that? Areli says “I’m a person with very intense feelings and it took me a long time to realize that that’s a gift not a weakness.” With lyrics divulging thoughts like 'I’m so sick of trying to be someone else', there is an underlying element of painful emotion to the song. The ability anxiety has to push us from pillar to post will soon be soothed with the arrival of "Homebody" in your playlists.
