A three-part harmony just hits different when the singers are connected beyond their instruments. You can hear the bond in the delivery, the dynamics, and that powerful, tonal blend. Today, America’s favorite siblings, Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, together with their close friend Quinn XCII, premiere their stripped-down, live performance of “Rain Check” with OnesToWatch. Anyone would rain check when there’s a mandolin involved.
The NYC-based eight-piece soul-pop band Lawrence blends timeless influences like Randy Newman and Aretha Franklin with the contemporary pop sounds of today’s biggest artists, creating an eclectic sound all their own. Quinn XCII, known for his fusion of reggae, hip-hop, and EDM, stars on the track with an upbeat second verse, imploring the listener to throw away their calendar and drive a Barracuda down to San Diego. Honestly? Save us a seat.
Quinn, a longtime fan of the band, says he’s been “fortunate enough to call them friends for years now.”
The song captures a deeply universal, deeply dramatic feeling: realizing you agreed to go to some friend-of-a-friend’s-cousin’s thing when all you really want to do is stay home and watch Love Island with your person. The one-take video feels like a natural extension of Lawrence’s highly favored “acoustic-ish” series: live reimaginings of their songs, often featuring a horn section and an ensemble of friends who toss off vocal riffs like a warm smile. Their “acoustic-ish” version of “Something In The Water” earned them a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best Arrangement, Instrument and Vocals, proving these hard-at-work musicians do not mess around.
The performance also marks the first time Clyde, Gracie, and Quinn XCII have been together in the studio since recording the track. With the Lawrence siblings on the East Coast and Quinn on the West Coast, much of the song’s release came together from afar, making the live session feel especially celebratory. As Lawrence shares, “It was really fun to be able to get into the studio to sing and play this song together in person for the first time since recording it. I feel like you can see our collective excitement in the room.”
“Rain Check” is the first single off Lawrence’s exciting new EP, Office Party, a collection of collaborations with artists they admire, close friends, and creative kindred spirits. A nominal callback to their fourth studio album, Family Business, the EP gives the band room to stretch into new corners of their sound. “Instead of worrying about cohesion, we got to explore all the wildly different flavors of what a Lawrence song can be,” Lawrence says.
That freedom makes sense for a band whose identity has always been rooted in the live experience: powerhouse lead vocals, a sibling dynamic that is both effortless and clever, and a tight horn section creates something between a celebration and a jam session among unbelievably skilled friends and family members.
Catch Lawrence on the road supporting Charlie Puth’s Whatever’s Clever! World Tour, and at their own Staycation 2026 festival in Brooklyn and LA.
