Lawrence Get Real About Heartbreak on "Feel Like That (ft. JP Saxe)"

Breakup songs don’t always have to be about the other person; sometimes they can be about the version of yourself that got to feel something and the fear that feeling might not come back around.
That’s where Lawrence and JP Saxe are at on their new single “Feel Like That,” Lawrence’s warm new single that’s out now via 10K Projects/Atlantic Records. It’s the second offering from the GRAMMY-nominated soul-pop group’s upcoming EP Office Party, which as the name suggests, is a party packed all into one project. Pairing Clyde and Gracie Lawrence’s eight-piece outfit with a different guest artist on every track, this is a project that’ll pull the mood inward and get the gang around the office water cooler taking stock of what’s left after a breakup.
Lawrence has described the song as sitting with how much capacity you have to feel, even when you’re in a relationship that wasn’t right, and working out whether what you actually miss is the person or the feeling they made possible. JP Saxe enters the ring to frame the song as a shared confrontation with a scarier question: were you ever capable of being overwhelmed by love in the first place? Both of the artists showcase the very best of their sleek, introspective styles and draw you to the same unease, which is what makes this collaboration work. This isn’t just two writers trading verses, it feels like talking to your best friend after your latest situationship ended and comparing what went wrong.
That feeling shines through the whole premise of Office Party: rather than building the EP around one cohesive sound, Lawrence paired each track with an artist they admire. It’s a showing of friendship, love, and mutual musical appreciation that pairs like peanut butter and jelly. The entire EP sounds like that one friend you have who you love so much and brings out the very best in you; or like collaborating with someone who you really like yourself around. That looseness and ease pays off on “Rain Check” and “Feel Like That” because they don’t sound like they’re chasing the same idea, yet both draw you in.
Lawrence’s year keeps blossoming around the EP rollout, playing a one-off appearance with the Colorado Symphony in Denver on September 18th, before headlining their own ‘Staycation 2026:’ a set of three night residencies at Brooklyn Paramount (October 29-31) and The Novo in LA (November 12-14), each built around a fluid, one of a kind setlist and surprise guests each night.
