LIA LIA Battles Her Intrusive Thoughts in New Single "What if i jump from a Bridge"

Rising pop icon LIA LIA makes her long-awaited return with her new single, "What if I jump from a Bridge?" The single, featured on her upcoming EP Angst, delves into the chaos of her intrusive thoughts and shows off her expansive sonic palette and the rare ability to twist grunge into more melodic sound bites. The introverted artist is reshaping pop music in her own form with a sound that is anthemic but retains its ability to speak to that one person sitting alone in the corner.

The intimate, kawaiicore track opens with a haunting blend of warped strings and ethereal vocals. The singer introduces a pared-down version of the chorus that examines the overwhelming thoughts plaguing her, asking, "What if I jump my scooter into a car /If I jump from a bridge, will I fall far?" In the verses, she timidly yet bravely admits that these suffocating thoughts prevent her from being able to sleep and that her anxiety "runs deep," expressing that it's all too much and worries that no one will ever love her because of it.

In the final chorus, layers of intensified synths, beats, and distorted production weave throughout the already-established piano, guitar, and percussion layers. LIA LIA's spritely vocals gain a sense of urgency and anger as she repeatedly goes over how her intrusive thoughts cloud her brain and begs for them just to leave her be, with the song coming to a close with a raging scream.

"I wrote [bridge] after a scooter ride to the library," shares LIA LIA. "Suddenly my brain went, what if i crash my scooter into the car, what if i go to a party and fuck a stranger, what if i jump from the bridge? I wondered what was going on and kept riding while the rain was falling. Later I found out (my therapist told me) that those thoughts were called intrusive thoughts. My pet bunny had just died the day before and I had started taking new medication for anxiety, so my brain just went numb and then out of control. It was quite scary. I wanted to write this anthem for people going through similar experiences so we can all help each other get through it and realize that not all thoughts should be taken seriously."

"What if i jump from a Bridge?" comes off the back of an explosive six months, during which her Instagram following has soared from 10k to a whopping 150k. LIA LIA's videos teasing "Bridge" have amassed millions of views and sparked countless comments from fans eagerly awaiting the release of her new song. Not only is LIA LIA making waves in the music scene, but she is also leaving a lasting impression in the fashion world, collaborating on fashion campaigns for iconic brands like Louis Vuitton and New Balance. Renowned fashion designer Clara Colette Miramon, who has worked with top artists like Doja Cat, Kehlani, and Tinashe, lends her expertise to LIA LIA's visual aesthetics.
