You at the expense of me. This seems to be the message behind up-and-coming indie-pop artist and producer MorMor’s recent release, “Won’t Let You.” This falsetto-driven track whisks listeners down a melancholic tunnel of love, highlighting the risk of raising your love of someone else onto a platform.

The song starts slow and gentle with deep bass and MorMor’s angelic vocals leading this prelude to a steadily building ambiance. The chorus starkly contrasts the minimalistic and experimental nature that opens the song. The lone vocals transcend into a choir, as a plethora of instruments break out into a transformative dance through the chorus and just before the bridge.

“Won't Let You” marks MorMor’s first release since his critically-acclaimed sophomore EP Some Place Else released earlier this year, and the emotionally-grappling piece already has us aching for more. You can  let MorMor's masterful lyricism and powerful vocals “take you higher,” just not at the expense of yourself, as he plays select dates this fall.
