PARTYOF2 Finds Euphoria in the Chaos of "Just Dance 2"
Sometimes, an ending is the beginning once longing to emerge. Formerly grouptherapy., PARTYOF2 are hungrier, more audacious, and more refined than ever before.
Moving through the grief of having to adjust to one less member, Jadagrace and SWIM are unequivocally in their bag. Building out their new, immersive world as a duo, everything about this era is technicolor as the genre-bending artists move from underground gems to front and center. The LA-based duo’s previous single, “poser,” is a grunge sonic whirlwind making its viral rounds across social media. This has left fans eager to hear what could possibly follow it up, and that time has finally arrived.
An explosive, unconfined song that feels both like a throwback and lightyears ahead, “Just Dance 2” is a love letter to Black liberation. Produced by SWIM, Danes Blood, and Dave Marcus, it honors deep, historical roots in '80s dance culture, a genre in which Black involvement has been critically overlooked. Paired with a sickening visual via Def Jam Recordings that platforms dance, fashion, and broken politics all in one go, PARTYOF2 aren’t too fly to make a statement.
Adding more context to the single, the duo shares, "‘Just Dance 2’ speaks to us as Black artists navigating the mess of the world while staying true to our craft. In a time when everything feels heavy, we find our escape in music and creating. This song is our way of surviving — using our art to make sense of a world that feels broken, while still finding moments of joy in the chaos.”
Black resilience has always derived from regeneration. To dance while surrounded by flames, to alchemize grief into a new form of art and expression. “Just Dance 2” is the encapsulation of that jubilance, the fact that every attempt at disempowering us will only strengthen our ability to extract the joy. Earning praise from fellow innovative artists like Doechii, PARTYOF2 is helping shape the future by proving it never needed shape to begin with.
