Ray Laurél Feels the Heat of Wanting Too Much in "Sinner"

Ray Laurél returns with "Sinner," a brooding, distorted slice of indie-leaning pop that dives into obsession, chaos, and desire, inviting listeners to feel the intensity of wanting someone too much. With crunchy guitar riffs and an unmistakable, shadowy vocal delivery that has become the artist's signature, the newest single is a slow-burner that continues to raise the stakes with each passing moment. It's another brilliant new release from an artist who consistently pushes boundaries and challenges expectations.

This new single opens with looping synths, grooving bass lines, and engimagtic guitar riffs to carry the listener into otherworldly sonic spaces. Amidst the instruments, Laurél channels his angst into an electric number that brings instantly recognizable icons to mind, such as Prince, mainly regarding passion and stylistic flourishes in his voice, and modern contemporaries with guitar-inflected, low-lit RnB like Billy Lemos and Dijon.

Lyrically, he toggles between "sinner" and "saint," exploring the intoxicating chaos of desire and rejection. As he belts, "Don't you feel my love?" in the chorus, references to Twilight's Cullens, Tarot's 10 of Cups, and mystical imagery weave through the sultry track, highlighting its emotional complexity.

"'Sinner' is the relationship between Neptune & Pluto," the London native explains. "When you idealize something so much, you aim to destroy it".

The new track comes hot off the heels of Laurél's recent releases, including "I Wantchu," "Freak," and "Honey, Undress Me." The London-based electro-pop rising star continues to forge a path in which his creative identity engages with his deepening spiritual journey as a trained shamanic practitioner and healer, ultimately crafting music that explores desire and identity. In the next year, Laurél already has big plans in the books, including a headline show at The George Tavern in London on February 4, 2026.
