Showpony Fight Their "Darker Side" in Enigmatic New Single

New Haven duo Showpony continues to flourish in their latest single, "Darker Side." On the track, they examine giving in to your darkest urges and temptations even though you know you shouldn't, bringing in the grit and charm they're slowly but surely becoming known for as their rising star continues to shine.

"Darker Side" is a sonic tour de force, a unique blend of dark, droning, distorted guitars, thrumming basslines, and driving percussion. The brooding instrumentation supports Taos and Lindsay's haunting vocal harmonies from the start, drawing listeners into the band's captivating soundscapes as they detail the events that have led them to this precarious position and the shaky state of their emotions.

The tension builds on the pre-chorus as the duo tries to fight the stronghold that their past temptations have on them, crooning, "Cause I'm in too deep / But I just can't let go/ can't help but take a peek / Out of the bedroom door," and falling into one last conversation with their "darker side," ultimately giving in as it takes control on the hook.

The accompanying music video, shot in their beloved hometown, is an engaging visual feast perfectly capturing the song's essence. Shot in black and white, the footage features the pair and their bandmates performing on the grounds of a refinery, giving it their all and capturing the infectious energy of their live shows.

The new single follows the success of their debut single, "Shine." The track opens with haunting guitar strums and rich bass grooves that deliver a western, quasi-gothic aftertaste. Taos croons amid the buzzing production, painting a scene of a protagonist straddling the land of the living and the dying.
