We Are Absolutely "Obsessed" With Sophie Powers Ashley Sienna's Infectious New Single

Rising alt-pop star Sophie Powers returns to captivate fans once again with the release of her latest single, "Obsessed," featuring Ashley Sienna. With the internet already buzzing about the track since it was used by Ningning from the K-Pop group aespa on TikTok, Powers proves that she can masterfully navigate the fine line between infatuation and self-awareness as she reflects on "liking someone even though they're toxic," which she says is "something I think everyone can relate to."

"Obsessed" opens with crashing percussion patterns, buzzing synths, and warped guitar riffs, ushering in Powers' sultry vocals. Over the glitch-infused instrumentation, she describes herself as a drama queen who freaks if they don't get what they want. As tension builds on the pre-chorus, she paints a picture of her love interest, sharing with listeners that they're a classless "certified disaster... a walking toxic hazard." In the intoxicating chorus, she reveals that despite the red flags, she can't help but be obsessed with them as pulsating synths and booming drums fill the air. Sienna's ethereal vocals in her verse seamlessly fit into the poppy, futuristic-infused track, giving the track an additional addictive layer.

"Liking someone even though they're toxic is something I think everyone can relate to," shares Powers. "I wrote this song with Bonnie McKee, Camm Hunter, Liam Benayon, and Mike Gonek (who produced the track). Ashley Sienna did a wonderful job writing her verse and performing on the track also! But overall, this song originated from the perspective of a non-judgemental girl who makes questionable romantic choices. We can't help who we love or even obsess over. So why is there so much judgment surrounding someone's partner? 'Obsessed' plays into the idea that a little obsession doesn't hurt anyone…. Most of the time…."

The accompanying music video is a Y2K space dream with aesthetics that feel reminiscent of Zenon Girl of the 21st Century. Footage of Powers switches back and forth between scenes of her dressed as a cupid on the moon and as a space adventurer inside her ship. The neon-coated visual matches the infectious energy of the track, with Powers and a cameo from Sienna, making any viewer wish they could join in on the fun.
