Anjali Taneja Reminds Listeners to Cherish the Journey in "My Side"

It's hard to resist a song that is not only beautifully performed but exceptionally written. The consistent conduit of this sublime balance is found in the increasingly intriguing sound of Anjali Taneja. The classically trained R&B singer, originally from the DC area, has begun to build up traction over the past couple of months, following a string of singles that accentuate her powerful vocal range and stirring South Asian rhythmic influences.

Her latest single, "My Side," is a complimentary record among her growing catalog and an interesting step into a sonic space that is steadily becoming her own. Taneja's new single comes on the heels of her previously-released record, "Got It," shared in July of last year. Comprised of a soft and lush blend of live instrumentation and synthetic production, “My Side" is another reassuring step for an artist whose brand of pop-R&B is all too intoxicating.

Weighted by the undeniable emotion and longing exuded through the song's heart-stirring lyrics, Taneja touches on the importance that special someone plays in your life. Her delicate characterization of this intimate partnership is as much about the beauty in growing together as it is about cherishing the moment it happens. Taneja shared some words with us about her new single, specifically describing the song’s overall theme and how it serves as a personal reminder,

"'My Side' at its core is about wanting the person you love to be there with you as you grow into yourself and achieve success, whatever that might look like for you. Writing this song actually gave me a lot of insight into myself, and how I often prioritize my goals over everything, burying my needs in the name of growth & progression. This song serves as a reminder for me to not be so blindly focused on the destination that I neglect the journey."
