half•alive Hits the Bullseye Once Again With "arrow" Video

image

With a wholly infectious single and a spellbinding music video, Long Beach, California - based indie-pop trio half•alive entered the cultural zeitgeist in stunning fashion. We are of course referring to the trio's breakout hit, "still feel." If YouTube has not already recommended you watch, then please do yourself a favor and do. This post about their equally enthralling new single and music video will still be here when you return.

Following the viral success of "still feel.," half•alive returns with "arrow," a hypnotic visual and sonic tale of being stuck, unable to move on to "the rest of your life." Directed and edited by lead vocalist Josh Taylor, "arrow" comes across as the second installment in a masterclass on a number of all things aesthetically appealing. Every shot, accentuated color choice, and placement of the other two band members, drummer Brett Kramer and bassist J Tyler Johnson, is meticulously put-together but retains the DIY spirit that makes half•alive such a fascinating act to behold. From the way Kramer and Johnson use commonplace household items to the brilliantly choreographing tight spaces, there is an undeniable creative energy that exudes forth from every moment of "arrow."

More than just experts at putting together a phenomenal music video, half•alive's true talent lies in how they transform inner turmoil into purely infectious indie pop-minded perfection. Despite revolving around being stuck "in the space between the finish and the start," "arrow" pulsates forward at a heart-pounding rhythm. It is a veritable earworm, making true on the wealth of early promise half•alive demonstrated with their initial breakout hit. half•alive is well on their way to cementing themselves as auteurs in the world of breathtaking music videos scored by equally mesmerizing music.
