Innovative Rocker grandson Has No Need to "Apologize"

Toronto's very own deviant rocker  grandson has been hard at work on his edgy EP, a modern tragedy vol. 2 (which is set for release on Feb. 22), but he's generously treating us to a gritty new single today. An intensely catchy anthem, "Apologize" opens with slow electric twangs as grandson begins his audacious declaration of certitude. Soon enough, the tenacious track drops an infectious beat with demanding electronics that perfectly complement grandson's resonant vocals. As a tribute to his devoted fans (cleverly dubbed as "grandkids"), "Apologize" encourages listeners to be unapologetically confident in themselves–especially when our haters are at full force.

On "Apologize," grandson shared:

"'Apologize' is now yours. In some ways it's funny, so much of my music up to this point has been about reclaiming power, but this feels like the first truly uplifting interpretation of that theme. I first began working on this back in 2016 without a song out, broke and lost, for all the grandkids I hoped one day to meet, to tell the world we will not apologize for who we are."

As an innovative genre-fusing musician, grandson's songwriting focuses on the grueling complexities of his generation–as we'll see in his forthcoming EP, a modern tragedy vol. 2. This dynamic collection of five enticing tracks explores addiction, power, and the heart with songs about gun violence, apathy, and disillusionment. And you can sing along to a modern tragedy vol. 2 at grandson's upcoming The No Apologies Tour, which kicks off later this month!
