"Porsche" Is Kacy Hill's Self-Love Mantra

Former American Apparel model Kacy Hill got her musical start as a backup dancer for Kanye West on 'The Yeezus Tour.'  Ye eventually got his hands on her debut single "Experience" and offered her a spot on his G.O.O.D. Music label, where she joined the ranks of artists like Pusha T, Teyana Taylor, and Big Sean. An EP, album, and a few stellar features later, Hill left G.O.O.D. Music in May of 2019 to pursue her next creative venture.

Now, Hill is back with "Porsche," a single from her upcoming sophomore album Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again. According to Hill, "Porsche" is about "telling myself to shut up and stop thinking that no one cares about me" - a mantra we can all relate to. The ethereal "Porsche" is the perfect Friday morning alarm ringtone; the silken vocals laid over jangling bell riffs are the perfect way to start the day.

Producers BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Hippo Campus), Jim-E-Stack (Caroline Polachek, Empress Of), and Francis and the Lights masterfully weave together the subtle hum of the bass and the high register of Hill's voice to produce an airy dream pop sound, akin to that of Barrie and Men I Trust.

The accompanying visuals to "Porsche" arrive as a grainy "VHS love letter to family and companionship and home." With the endearing quality of ‘90s home videos, the fuzzy video sews together clips of the Los Angeles skyline, Hill's silly dancing on the sidewalk, and the people she loves. A sharp departure from the high budget visuals that Hill created for her 2017 album Like A Woman, the effervescent "Porsche" video is a gentle reminder to herself to "be patient and get out of her own way."

The independently-released Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again is slated for release on June 19.
