Fresh from the success of her last single "Nobody Else But You," the upcoming pop/R&B artist Laica returns to us with two new singles and a video for "love u lately." Despite being a fairly new face in the pop scene, the young Filipina artist has quickly amassed a sizable following preceding the debut of her two newest tracks. The standout single, "love u lately," sees Laica making a bold first impression, releasing a single and video both equally full of charm, honesty, and musical talent.

With her seasoned songwriting ability, "love u lately" is a strong introduction to Laica's style for the uninitiated. Carefully crafting a seductive concoction of electro-pop, R&B, and hip-hop percussion, Laica delivers her fans a smoldering banger primed for their springtime rotation. Whether reaching the higher range of her vocal register on the track's chorus or effortlessly laying down vocal harmonies that would draw envy from many of her pop contemporaries, Laica consistently makes the most of her signature style.

Despite her unmatched confidence and humor, "love u lately" is actually a track that leaves the singer vulnerable, as she remarks that the track is "basically about the dating game and trying to figure out how the other person is feeling/thinking but getting mixed feelings."

Even in her state of perpetual vulnerability and confusion, she puts her best foot forward and provides listeners with a heavy dose of inspiring creative energy. Both the track and its video are bursting at the seams with intentionality and candor, showing her audience that she is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Along with the B-side "out of touch," "love u lately" is among the first singles taken from Laica's forthcoming debut record, i'm so fine at being lonely. Until then, "love u lately" is the perfect song for the hopeless romantic's weekly rotation, or at least until Laica returns with another bop.
